Series Pictures

In this series of pictures i am trying to convey a feeling of loss, and sorrow, and dissappointment. To do this I had my friend Kelsey wear a black dress into a graveyard and get some really bright flowers (to show the joy and spunk her grandma left behind).

Artist Statement!

My intrest in photograpy has always been in my life. When my dad was around my age and in college, he was really into photography also. He even still had his tripod, his old camera, a bunch of filters, and just a ton of his old photography stuff! So he would always show me things and i would always want to play around with it, but being a "little kid" he would never let me use his things, so instead he bought me a really cheep camera. Which at the time I thought was the collsest thing in the world!! So i would use about a roll of film a week for a while! But my intrest in photography really picked up in the eighth grade. This was because my friend Kelsey Von Der Linn moved here from Connecticut! She was also really in to photography, because her mom is a very good photographer. Kelsey was showing me all of her pictures the one day and I fell in love with it all over again! So then she started showing me all these cool features on her camera and all of these techniques she uses!

My view on photography did not change much in this class. I like pictures that either need little editing to none at all! I believe that photography is about "catching the moment" not lets change peaceful to dyrmatic and wild, and no organization!! Although I do have more appreation to artists that change the mood in there picuters by manipulating them in a photo editing program, I still like the simplicity of a real moment! Now I'm not saying that I hate these pictures, because some of them are really cool!! I just prefure a real moment picture!

Color psychology

Yellow means cheery, warm, optimistic, and livley! In this picture I was trying for a little bit of all three, because kitchen's are supposed to be warm and cheery and inviting but with the look of our kitchen its not like that at all!! And then I was trying to acheive optinistic with the pot, and the salt and pepper and the oil, then with the asprin bottle I think it kinda says you can acheive anything you try for!! Also this picture seams very alive to me, with the clock, and the tore up walls, and the light! It also seems livley to me because every weekend my dad and I will spend a day in the kitchen just making whatever comes to mind!! This picture is in our kitchen and we are redoing it, so we ripped down the tile backsplash (which is why the drywall is falling apart!) But in this picture I think it enhanses it! Then I also color accented the Yellow in the bottle wiich also picked out a little of the green in the olive oil and in the wood cabnet!

"Forgotten" Brown means sadness, isolation, forgotten, and natural. In this picture I was trying to show how things are forgotten! I think this picture shows this very well! just how the football is laying there all by it self in the snow that is untouched, except for wehre the football rolled, and how there is nothing but the lake, trees, and sky in the background!

Blue means clam, peaceful, tranquil, and depressing. In this picture I was trying to convey peace! I think that the wood plays an important roll in this image, because when I see wood I think of bonfires out in the backyard and just sitting there talking with your friends, and the whole night is very calm and relaxing! Also I captured this image by color accenting the bule, which pulled out the blue in the bucket, sheet, and carpeting!

Ben Goossens’

I really enjoy Ben's work! it makes you think about everything that is going on in the picture. My favorite picture is the one of the egg and the tree, simply because you have to do a double take when looking at the egg. And i put the one of the wolf on here because i dont see the surrealsim in the work. Being a hunter and an outdoors person i think this is a very common sight to see a wolf howling.
